Che Tailong, President of Yingkou Magnesite Chemical Ind. Group: Creation Stemming from Imagination

Che Tailong, a master’s degree holder and long-time technical expert in mid- and micro-nutrient fertilizers, serves as President (and Chairman) of Yingkou Magnesite Chemical Ind. (Group) Co., Ltd., Dean of its Magnesium Chemical Research Institute, Standing Director of the China Inorganic Salts Association, Vice President of its Magnesium Compounds Branch, and Director of the Liaoning Provincial Magnesium Chemical Materials Engineering Technology Research Center. He is also a technical expert committee member of the Mid- and Micro-Element Fertilizer Industry Branch of the China Inorganic Salts Industry Association. For decades he has dedicated himself to the research, development, and promotion of magnesium chemical products and mid- and micro-nutrient fertilizers.
Born 47 years before in a small mountain village in Gaizhou, Liaoning Province, Che grew up in a large, modest household. He excelled academically and was admitted to Northeastern University’s computer application management program. After graduating in 1993 he was assigned to a state-owned enterprise—an enviable “iron rice bowl” at the time. Around the age of thirty, however, watching peers succeed in diverse fields, he felt a clear inner call: he wanted an uncommon path. He resigned from the stable post and, together with like-minded friends, founded Yingkou Magnesite Chemical Ind. (Group) Co., Ltd.
While most local enterprises in Dashiqiao capitalized on abundant magnesite resources to expand the refractory materials industry, Che deliberately chose a different route—magnesium chemicals. At the time the field was largely unexplored and met with skepticism. He responded that true entrepreneurship required bold innovation and independent vision: “Conceptual innovation is goal innovation—setting targets others consider unreachable and achieving them through new methods. If you want to succeed, advance along new roads rather than follow well-trodden paths to success.”
The company began small, primarily in trade. Through deep processing of low-grade raw materials it raised technological content and added value, gradually evolving into a group enterprise. Che positioned sales early toward international agricultural markets. Initial resistance to Chinese products was overcome through persistent communication, consistent quality, and reliable after-sales service, opening global channels and accelerating internationalization.
Early production relied on rudimentary equipment and processes with daily output of only tens of tons. As demand surged, Che led teams on domestic and overseas study tours. In 2008 the company completed a comprehensive production-line upgrade that simultaneously boosted capacity, resolved environmental challenges, and secured invention patents. In 2010 planning began for a new flagship plant; construction started in 2012. By 2014 the “300,000-ton high-quality agricultural magnesium sulfate” project came online and was designated a National Torch Plan industrialization demonstration project by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The facility, designed largely in-house, became one of the world’s largest single-capacity plants of its kind and kept the company’s processes at the industry frontier.
Today Yingkou Magnesite Chemical is a leading global producer and exporter of chemically produced magnesium sulfate fertilizers and magnesium feed additives. Annual magnesium chemical capacity reaches 700,000 tons. Its three core product lines—magnesium sulfate series, magnesium oxide series, and magnesium fertilizer series—encompass more than one hundred specifications under the brands Sinomagchem® and Jiamagile® (加镁乐®). Products serve fertilizers, animal feed, chemicals, environmental protection, textiles, leather, metallurgy, mining, food, and pharmaceuticals. The company is a national-level specialized and sophisticated “Little Giant” enterprise and a national high-tech enterprise. It holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, HACCP, FAMI-QS, and GMP+ certifications; its laboratory is CNAS-accredited. Che personally led the drafting of the national standard Agricultural Magnesium Sulfate and participated in the standard Boron-Magnesium Fertilizer.
Under his guidance the company has tackled low-grade magnesite utilization, solved conversion-rate challenges in synthesis, and commercialized key technologies for magnesium-series mid-element fertilizers. Projects he has headed include a sulfur-coated slow-release magnesium sulfate fertilizer that filled a domestic gap and an activated magnesium fertilizer (mid-element fertilizer) whose overall technology was judged internationally leading by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology. He holds two national invention patents and six utility-model patents, has published technical papers such as “Research and Practice on the Production of Magnesium Sulfate Monohydrate by Rotary Conversion,” and has received two National Magnesium Compound Industry Scientific and Technological Achievement Awards, a third-class Liaoning Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (2015), and two Yingkou municipal science and technology progress awards. Additional honors include recognition as an outstanding figure for industry development (2014) and as an outstanding private entrepreneur of China’s petroleum and chemical industry during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2016).
Che’s management philosophy emphasizes continuous, incremental progress: “Every day innovate a little and you move toward leadership; every day do a little more and you move toward harvest; every day improve a little and you move toward success.” Strategic slogans have evolved with the company’s stages—“Use three years to surpass the previous decade,” “Inherit the past and achieve leapfrog development,” “Transform thinking and realize refined management,” and “Ensure sustainable development.” Recent corporate themes center on “New Magnesite, New Thinking, New Direction, New Action,” building a “harmonious, technological, international, and century-long Magnesite.”
In early 2026 the group opened its Shenyang R&D Center in the Northeastern University Science and Technology Industrial Building, positioning the center as the group’s “innovation brain” while the headquarters remains the manufacturing heart. Che described the move as a strategic leap from manufacturer to technology developer and leader in magnesium applications—an essential step toward core-competitiveness reconstruction. Later that year the company completed a shareholding reform, and at the 2025 work-summary meeting Che called on staff to abandon outdated mindsets, embrace the “four news,” strengthen responsibility and execution, and deepen investment in intelligent, scientific, and digital transformation for 2026.
He has actively pursued industry–academia collaboration. In 2025 and 2026 he engaged the Qinghai Institute of Salt Lakes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on green and high-end magnesium chemical upgrading and signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application. In April 2026, as founder, chairman, and newly appointed guest professor at Yingkou Institute of Technology, he delivered a keynote titled “Pathways to High-Value Development of the Magnesite Industry and Reflections on Industry–Education Integration,” analyzing opportunities and challenges, outlining technology R&D, product upgrading, industrial-chain extension, and low-carbon development, and offering concrete advice on talent cultivation.
Social responsibility forms an explicit part of his leadership. In August 2026, as Vice Chairman of the Yingkou Federation of Industry and Commerce and company chairman, he pledged four consecutive years of support—100,000 yuan annually for 20 university students from disadvantaged families—stating that helping resilient young people is both a private enterprise’s duty and a shared responsibility of the local business community. The company itself adheres to the principles “good products come from good raw materials” and “premium raw materials, world-class products,” using high-purity, low-heavy-metal inputs and proprietary patented processes under strict environmental management, aiming to build a green, safe, high-quality enterprise that benefits a green earth.
Che’s long-term vision remains clear: perfect the product chain, strengthen the magnesium chemical industry, advance comprehensive cooperation, create a world brand, achieve sustainable development, and contribute to a greener planet—building China’s pioneering magnesium chemical enterprise and an international leading force, ultimately a “best-in-China, best-in-world” magnesium chemical industrial base. In his own words, “Plan a vision for yourself and fill it step by step with action until it is realized. Keep a long-term view and complete preparations before the opportunity matures. Once the goal is chosen, strive without hesitation, enriching yourself, accumulating experience, and drawing lessons along the way.”Through imagination turned into disciplined innovation, technical leadership, and a consistent sense of social duty, Che Tailong has helped transform a local resource advantage into a globally competitive magnesium chemical enterprise while steadily expanding its scientific, industrial, and human impact.
