(S)-Tebuconazole is a chiral triazole fungicide and an active stereoisomer of tebuconazole. It acts as a systemic fungicide by inhibiting sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51) in fungal cells, interfering with ergosterol biosynthesis. It is mainly used in agricultural formulations for controlling fungal diseases in cereals, fruits, vegetables, and ornamental plants, including rusts, powdery mildew, and leaf spot diseases. It is also used as an intermediate and reference standard in pesticide research and analytical laboratories.
